About Linda Gilbert

Linda Gilbert is an abstract painter from Aotearoa, New Zealand. She paints ‘energy maps’ and is intrigued by unseen but felt energies that swirl around us. These can relate to the earth, people or particular spaces and places.

For the past 4 years Linda has been painting about Earth's magnetic field and the diamagnetic energy found in limestone. These energies manifest in her body as curious attractions to place and quiet persistent psychic nudges.

Incorporating techniques used by Visionary artists and the Surrealists, Gilbert is interested in surrendering control to allow the unconscious to emerge through the work. The paintings are tangible responses, informed by research relating to geology, sensory perception and consciousness.

She exhibits regularly and her work is held in private collections in Aotearoa, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

Linda holds a Masters of Fine Art (Hons) from Whitecliffe College of Art and Design, Auckland (2023).
